More childhood afflictions! And more Essential Oil solutions…
If your child has an excessively runny nose and has wiped it more times than you can count, you may be able to get your child some temporary relief using Lemon Essential Oil.
Dilute the Lemon oil properly, based on your child's age, and place a drop down the bridge of his nose, on the sides of the nose where the sinuses are, and down the spine. This technique often helps to stop the nose from running for a couple of hours to give your child a break.
Nothing can ruin a child's day (and yours!) like ear discomfort. The discomfort may start out mild and then get increasingly more intense. At the first sign of a complaint, try this method:
Place one drop of properly diluted Tea Tree Essential Oil on a bit of cotton ball and place it in your child's ear. If your child will not tolerate the cotton, place a properly diluted drop of oil on the outside of the ear, both on the front and back.
Your child will feel a cooling, soothing sensation as the oil goes to work!
Other Essential Oils that are often effective for ear discomfort include Lavender, Helichrysum, and Thyme.
NOTE: Do NOT put Essential Oils directly into an ear canal. It is important that it is placed on a cotton ball and given time to absorb BEFORE being placed inside the ear.
